Family Feud Turns Fatal: Elder brother murders sibling over family will

A family dispute over inheritance turned deadly when a 28-year-old man was fatally stabbed by his 33-year-old brother in Ndola, Zambia. The incident occurred at their family home, where tensions had been simmering between the two siblings over their father's will.

The father, Mike Sibande, had named the younger brother, Muneti, as a beneficiary in his will, which sparked a heated argument between the two brothers. According to witnesses, the disagreement escalated when Muneti approached a window to confront his older brother, Telemu, about ongoing harassment related to the inheritance.

Despite their father's efforts to calm the situation and urge his sons to resolve the matter peacefully, the altercation quickly spiraled out of control. Mike Sibande initially thought it was just another sibling argument and didn't intervene. However, a concerned neighbor alerted him to the severity of the situation, telling him that Muneti was lying unconscious on the road.

Muneti was immediately rushed to Ndola Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead on arrival. The cause of death was a deep wound to the chest, allegedly inflicted with a knife. The police were called, and an investigation was launched.

Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer, Pathias Siandenge, confirmed the tragic event and stated that the murder weapon was recovered hidden in the grass near the servants' quarters of the family property. Telemu Sibande was arrested and is currently in police custody, facing a charge of murder as investigations continue.

The incident has shocked the community, highlighting the devastating consequences of unresolved family disputes. As the case unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully and seeking help when needed.
