European Journalism Centre Opens Free Online Data Journalism Course

The European Journalism Centre is offering a Data Journalism course aimed at empowering starting and seasoned journalists with the basic of data journalism.
This is according to information available on their website. The course is dubbed Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).
The free online course is formally called: ‘Doing Journalism with Data: First Steps, Skills and Tools’ is launching 19 May, 2014.

With over 18,000 participants at press time, it is the largest online journalism course to date.
Through video lectures, tutorials, assignments, readings, and discussion forums, participants will learn the essential concepts and skills to effectively work with data and to produce compelling stories under tight deadlines.
To further support and engage students, the center has set up local learning groups to run concurrently with the course, and will offer English, French, and Spanish subtitles for all videos.
The center says learners will benefit from the experience of top data journalists from leading outlets and schools, including the New York Times, Zeit Online and the W. Cronkite J-School.
