ERB Penalises 29 Companies for Regulatory Violations.

The Energy Regulation Board has taken enforcement action against 29 companies for breaching licence conditions and failing to meet statutory obligations. The move follows compliance audits aimed at enforcing standards under the Energy Regulation Act and strengthening oversight in the sector.

Among the penalties, Uno Energies Zambia Limited was fined K180,000 for fuel contamination and failure to conduct quality checks, while ZESCO Limited was fined K100,000 for failing to maintain safety systems. Other companies faced fines for construction violations and operating without required permits, with several also receiving formal warnings for non-compliance with regulatory directives.

In addition, multiple firms settled outstanding statutory fees amounting to over K366,000 following enforcement measures. The ERB says the actions are meant to protect consumers, promote safety and ensure all licensed entities comply with regulations, while urging the public to report concerns through its toll-free line.
