Education Minister Hails Progress on Provincial Education Office and DEBS

Minister of Education, Douglas Syakalima, has commended the steady advancement of construction works for Provincial Education Offices (PEOs) in Muchinga and Southern Provinces.

He expressed optimism that the facilities will be completed by the June 2026 target, citing encouraging progress on site.

Speaking during an appearance on “EduTalkZone”, the Ministry’s official communication platform, Mr Syakalima highlighted the pressing need for these offices.

Mr Syakalima noted  that Muchinga Province has operated without a dedicated PEO since its establishment, with officials currently based at Chinsali Girls Secondary School.

He also points out that Southern Province has struggled to establish a permanent PEO since the provincial capital was moved from Livingstone to Choma, disrupting administrative operations.

Mr Syakalima further announced that construction of District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) offices is underway in 10 newly formed districts that previously lacked proper infrastructure.

The targeted districts include Mushindamo, Mulobezi, Lupososhi, Rufunsa, Chikankata, Ngabwe, Lusangazi, Kanchibiya, Chifunabulia, and Chipili.

Mr Syakalima reaffirmed  the government's commitment to enhancing educational administration through improved infrastructure across all regions.
