DEC SEIZES VEHICLES LINKED TO LUNGU FAMILY IN LATE-NIGHT OPERATION.
Officers from the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) have seized six vehicles belonging to Dalitso Lungu, son of former President Edgar Lungu, following a late-night operation in Lusaka.
The operation, carried out by plain-clothed officers, began on Monday night and ended around 01:44 hours, with the vehicles collected from the former Head of State’s residence in Libala Township.
Authorities say the vehicles were recently forfeited to the State after being classified as proceeds of crime.
However, Dalitso Lungu’s lawyer, Charles Changano, has challenged the operation, describing it as unlawful and unexpected. He argues that the properties are still under appeal and further alleged that DEC officers failed to produce a search warrant during the seizure.
Dalitso Lungu has since appealed a ruling by the Economic and Financial Crimes Court, which ordered the forfeiture of the vehicles and other assets.
