DEC Raises Awareness At Ndola Aerobics Mania
The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Copperbelt Province has taken its drug and financial crime awareness campaign to the Ndola Aerobics Mania, organised by the Ministry of Education at the Ndola Skills School grounds.
The event provided the Commission with an opportunity to interact with members of the public and raise awareness on the dangers of substance use and the consequences of money laundering through an exhibition.
The DEC used the platform to share information aimed at encouraging members of the public to understand the risks associated with drug and substance use and financial crimes, while promoting responsible decision-making within communities.
The Commission's participation is in line with its broader public awareness and prevention work. According to the DEC, its goal is to “prevent drug abuse through awareness and knowledge.”
The Commission provides drug education programmes to schools, communities and organisations, while also conducting community awareness campaigns, workplace drug awareness training, youth empowerment programmes and drug prevention workshops.
The DEC also has a mandate covering money laundering and financial crimes, alongside its work against narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The Commission encourages members of the public to report suspicious drug-related activities and financial crimes through its reporting channels.
The Commission says continued engagement with communities and members of the public remains important in promoting informed choices and strengthening collective efforts to prevent drug abuse and financial crimes.
