Zambia Praised For Progress In PIDACC-Zambezi Basin Project
The African Development Bank has commended Zambia for the progress made in implementing the Programme for Integrated Development and Adaptation to Climate Change, PIDACC-Zambezi Basin Project.
The commendation was made during a courtesy call by an AfDB Mission on the Ministry of Agriculture in Lusaka on Monday, October 5, 2026.
The mission is in Zambia to undertake the Mid-Term Review of the project ahead of the Regional Mid-Term Review Workshop, which Zambia is hosting.
The delegation was received by Acting Permanent Secretary for Administration Dr Chizumba Shepande and Permanent Secretary for Technical Services John Mulongoti, together with senior Ministry officials.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the AfDB and the Ministry to assess implementation progress, identify challenges and discuss key issues ahead of the regional review.
The Mid-Term Review will also assess lessons learnt and recommend measures to improve implementation during the remaining period of the project.
The AfDB Mission expressed appreciation for Zambia’s commitment to the programme and the progress recorded towards achieving its objectives.
The engagement further highlighted the importance of continued cooperation between the Government and the AfDB in strengthening climate change adaptation, environmental resilience and sustainable development across the Zambezi Basin.
Zambia’s hosting of the regional workshop is expected to bring together stakeholders from participating countries to share experiences, assess implementation and identify areas that could strengthen the programme.
PIDACC-Zambezi Basin seeks to promote integrated development and climate change adaptation through interventions aimed at improving environmental sustainability, climate resilience and the livelihoods of communities in the Zambezi Basin.
