DC Zulu Urges Kanyama Residents to Safeguard CDF Infrastructure

LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Lusaka District Commissioner Rosa K. Zulu has urged residents of Kanyama Constituency to protect public infrastructure funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), warning that acts of vandalism will not be tolerated. Speaking at the start of her seven-day tour of all Lusaka constituencies, Ms. Zulu emphasized that CDF projects are community-owned assets meant to improve the livelihoods of ordinary citizens.

“These projects are not for government officials or outsiders—they belong to you, the people,” Ms. Zulu said. “Every well-meaning Zambian must protect what is meant to benefit the community.” She warned that vandalism not only wastes public resources but also delays development and deprives communities of essential services.

The tour kicked off in Kanyama, where Ms. Zulu was accompanied by area Member of Parliament Hon. Monty Chinkuli. The two officials inspected a state-of-the-art community hall in Chinika Ward, a newly constructed health post in Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula Ward, and a maternity annex in Munkolo Ward—all nearing completion and expected to be commissioned in the coming weeks. Ms. Zulu expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and commended local stakeholders for their commitment to development.

Highlighting President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision of community-driven growth, Ms. Zulu stated, “The enhanced CDF is a platform for grassroots development. All stakeholders must take keen interest in ensuring the success of these projects and help extend their impact to every community for the greater public good.” She also encouraged the hiring of local contractors to boost job creation and economic activity within the constituencies.

As part of the tour, Ms. Zulu will engage with Ward Development Committees and Constituency Development Fund Committees (CDFCs) to assess ongoing projects, understand implementation challenges, and promote greater community participation. “The government has fulfilled its role by providing funds for development, supporting livelihoods through grants and loans, and offering bursaries for our youth. Let us tell this story and be patriotic,” she said.
