Cyclist James Falanga on Fifth Day of Journey to Ncwala Ceremony

The journey has taken Falanga and six other young cyclists through challenging terrain in Luangwa District, including steep hills and long stretches under the scorching sun.

“My goal is to see people from different parts of the country come together to celebrate culture,” Falanga said during an interview in Petauke.

Unlike previous years when he cycled alone, Falanga said riding with a team has made the journey more manageable and rewarding. “Riding with a team has given me strength and made the experience more worthwhile,” he added.

Falanga, who completed last year’s trip in seven days, is expected to arrive in Chipata tomorrow ahead of the traditional celebrations.

Through the initiative, he aims to encourage youth participation in sports, promote peace, and highlight the country’s rich cultural heritage.
