Copper Queens Eye Qualification as They Face Namibia in Crucial WAFCON Decider

The Copper Queens are determined to book their place at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) as they prepare for a decisive qualifier against Namibia.
Head Coach Nora Hauptle says the team is fully focused on the task ahead, stressing that the players understand the magnitude of the encounter. “We know what is at stake, and the girls are committed to delivering qualification,” she told reporters after a training session in Lusaka on Thursday.
Hauptle admitted Namibia poses a strong challenge but expressed confidence, drawing on her previous experience of eliminating the Brave Gladiators while coaching Ghana’s women’s team. She said she hopes to replicate that success with Zambia.
Team captain Barbra Banda, who joined the squad at training this morning, also backed her teammates to rise to the occasion. “I have full confidence in this team. We have the talent, discipline, and the drive to qualify,” Banda said.
The Copper Queens will take on Namibia in a two legged tie, with the winner securing a coveted ticket to the continental showpiece in 2026.
