CHIEF LUMPUMA BEMOANES THE DELAY IN THE COMPLETION OF LUMPUMA BOARDING SCHOOL

CHIEF Lumpuma of the Lamba speaking people of Lufwanyama district on the copper has bemoaned the delay in completing Lumpuma Boarding secondary school in his area.
The traditional leader said this at the handle over ceremony of six schools built by Save the Children International- Zambia in Lufwanyama on Saturday 9th November 2018.

 

Chief Lumpuma said the stalling of the school construction project which started in 2016 has worried him as many children in his chiefdom suffer walking long distances to access secondary school education. He however thanked SAVE the children for building and donating six 2 x 3 classroom blocks including Early Childhood Education Centres in 3 chiefdoms including Shimukunami, Nkana and Lumpuma itself costing K30, 000,000.

 

And save the children international country director Duncan Harvey said his organisation is proud to partner with government in fostering development in the area of education. He also pledged to continue working in this district for many more years.

 

Meanwhile Ministry of General Education thanked Save the Children International-Zambia for the gesture. Copperbelt Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Joyce Nsamba received and commissioned the schools on behalf of the Minister of General Education David Mabumba.

 

Mrs. Nsamba said government appreciates efforts by non- governmental organisations in uplifting the lives of vulnerable children especially in rural areas. She said the multimillion dollar donation will go a long way in uplifting education standards of the vulnerable Children in the district.

 

“I would like to appeal to you all people of these communities in which these schools have been built to guard this property jealous, as that is the only way you can say thank you to Save the Children for this gesture”, Mrs. Nsamba said. Mrs. Nsamba further urged other non- governmental organisation to emulate SAVE the children in partnering with government in bringing development to the people in rural areas.
