ARCHITECTS LINK FLOODING TO POOR ADHERENCE TO DEVELOPMENT PLANS

The Zambia Institute of Architects has attributed flooding in some communities to failure by developers to adhere to approved development plans. Institute President Musunka Silungwe said construction should follow approved plans and meet required professional and quality standards.

Mr Silungwe said poorly planned infrastructure has contributed to settlements lacking adequate drainage and other essential services. He said developers need to consider proper planning to prevent infrastructure challenges that affect communities.

Meanwhile, developer Chola Mushota has urged property owners to seek professional guidance and obtain approval from local authorities before starting construction. He said proper planning is particularly important for commercial properties to ensure infrastructure is both functional and suitable for its intended purpose.
