TWO ARRESTED AFTER BUSEKO MARKET FIRE

Two men aged 18 and 17 have been arrested in connection with alleged theft following a fire that destroyed property at Buseko Market along Lumumba Road in Matero, Lusaka.

Police say the two suspects were allegedly found removing Bonanza gaming machines from one of the affected shops during the fire incident. Three machines were recovered from them at the scene, while investigations into the alleged theft are ongoing.

The fire, which occurred on August 30, 2026, destroyed property belonging to several traders. Preliminary investigations indicate that a charcoal brazier left unattended may have contributed to the outbreak, although police are still investigating to establish the exact cause.
