American Embassy in Zambia Trains 40 Participants in Mobile Journalism.

The United States (U.S) Embassy in Lusaka hosted a three-day training workshop in Mobile Journalism and Content Creation. The training, held from April 16 to April 18, 2024, drew the participation of 40 professionals from diverse backgrounds. Taking place at the American Corner at the National Institute of Public Administration, the training provided participants with a rich source of knowledge that equipped them with skills in photography, video shooting, and editing using smartphones. American Embassy representative Jaymee Lewis-Flenaugh, who is also an American Spaces specialist, described the training workshop as a success. "This particular workshop on Mobile Journalism gathered creatives from diverse professional backgrounds who were interested in creating content using smartphones. Participants worked in groups to learn from each other and meet the objective of acquiring new skills. Initially, we planned to train only 20 participants, but due to the overwhelming response from applicants, we increased the number to 40 to accommodate as many people as possible," said Jaymee. One of the participants, Manga Teresa Kambole, thanked the American Embassy for providing her with an opportunity to learn new skills in content creation using a mobile phone. "I have acquired knowledge in photography and video editing. Particularly interesting were the elements of a good picture: action, emotion, and engagement (AEE), the rule of thirds, direction of movement, and balance in photography. In terms of video editing, I learned to use mobile apps such as Capcut and Inshort. Special thanks to the United States of America Government for providing this important training for me as a content creator and graphic designer," said Kambole.
