Wedding Traditions of the Peoples of the World to be Showcased at the World Public Assembly

A unique cultural initiative, the photo project “Weddings of the Peoples of the World: Cultural Heritage”, will be presented at the upcoming World Public Assembly. The international project highlights the diversity of wedding traditions, preserving intangible heritage and fostering cultural dialogue between nations.

Since 2015, project author Denis Knyazev, director of the NGO International Cultural Dialogue, has documented wedding ceremonies across Russia, Asia, Africa, and Europe. His expeditions produce photo and video chronicles that later form the basis of multilingual books, albums, exhibitions, and youth educational programs.

The project has already been exhibited globally, including at the UN headquarters under the auspices of the Russian Federation Commission for UNESCO, as well as in national libraries, museums, and diplomatic missions in more than 12 countries.

Knyazev emphasized the universal value of the initiative:

“The wedding ceremony is the moment when people pass on their history and values to a new generation. It contains the roots of culture, the strength of the family, and hope for the future. Participation in the World Public Assembly is an opportunity to connect cultures, continents and generations, reminding the world that family and respect for traditions are always at the heart of peace.”

The exhibition underscores the Assembly’s broader mission: promoting cultural understanding and strengthening global unity through shared traditions.
