UBA DONATES 350 LITERATURE BOOKS TO KANSENSHI SECONDARY SCHOOL IN NDOLA

Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament Emmanuel Mulenga has commended United Bank for Africa (UBA) for donating 350 literature books to Kansenshi Secondary School of Excellency in Ndola.
Mr. Mulenga said this in Ndola when he witnessed the handing over of literature books to the school’s head-teacher Eunice Malama yesterday.
Mr. Mulenga also urged the teachers to use the books to their advantage and add on to the already existing resources by using the books as reference in their research as teachers are known to be hungry for knowledge.
“I urge the pupils to improve their reading culture if they are to become future leaders because it is a requirement in Zambia that for one to aspire to political office, one should have a full grade 12 certificate,” Mr. Mulenga said.
He added that a pass in literature in English would add to making ones grade twelve certificate and urged the pupils to utilize the donated books well.
And UBA Representative Wezi Njovu said the bank’s mission is to uplift the lives of the communities which is under the read Africa initiative.
Ms. Njovu said that the purpose of the donation is meant to re-cultivate the eroded reading culture among young people.
“The donation of these books will help pupils to be able to see their communities in what they read and as you may be aware, knowledge never gets old there you should use the books well in order to allow those coming after you to use the same books,” Ms. Njovu said.
She further explained that the donated books were not mere decorations meant to fill the shelves in the library but that they should be used to the maximum by both the pupils and the teachers.
And Ms. Malama thanked UBA for the gesture and assured the bank that the school will utilise the literature books prudently as they continue to partner in raising the standards of education together.
