ICU Welcomes Marina Poliakova for Russian Language and Cultural Exchange Program

Lusaka, Zambia – September 2025
The Information and Communications University (ICU) has officially welcomed Marina Poliakova, Lecturer at the Institution of Foreign Languages and Project Coordinator for African partnerships at Volgograd State Socio-Pedagogical University (VSSPU).
Her visit marks a significant milestone in the growing collaboration between ICU and VSSPU, made possible through the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the two universities. This partnership is designed to expand opportunities for language education, methodological training, cultural exchange, and joint research initiatives.
Upon arrival in Lusaka, Marina paid a courtesy call on ICU Registrar, Dr. Sycorax Tiyesa Ndhlovu, and met with members of staff. She has since begun teaching free Russian language classes for ICU students and the general public.
Courses Offered (Library R2, ICU Campus):
-
Practical Russian Language (Express Course): September 1 – 13, 2025
-
Welcome to Russia!: September 15 – 26, 2025 (Timetable to be announced)
Cultural Engagement
In addition to the language courses, Marina will lead the Festival of Russian Applied Arts & Architecture on September 8, 10, and 11 at 14:00 at Library R2. These cultural events will provide participants with a deeper appreciation of Russian traditions and creativity.
This initiative reflects ICU’s mission to foster international cooperation, global learning, and cross-cultural understanding. By hosting Marina and her colleagues, ICU is strengthening Zambia–Russia educational ties and opening new pathways for students, staff, and the wider community to engage in meaningful global exchange.
