ZITF Invests

THE Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) has invested a considerable amount in trying improving this year trade fair.
And about 500 have confirmed participation at this year’s trade fair.
Both ZITF chairperson Monde Kabwela and general manager Moses Chitoshi confirmed the development in separate interviews on Friday.
This year’s trade fair which will run under the theme: ‘Innovation for Industrialisation’ opens its doors from June 28 to July 4, this year, with participation from local and international exhibitors having been confirmed so far.
Ms Kabwela said about 75 per cent of the space had already been taken up.
“I must also mention that the quality of the exhibitions this year would have improved from of course the previous years because we placed a lot of emphasis on improvement in the quality the exhibitions.
It is also expected that business people that are going to attend this show are going to learn something and they will have something to take away in terms of business knowledge because we are going to host very successful business forums this year,” Ms Kabwela said.
She said quiet a lot of initiatives were being put in place and for the first time in the history of the trade fair, there’s going to be an innovators stand.
The stand was aimed at bringing innovators together with the aim of identify talent and bringing the talent together so that going forward people would be able to participate in the trade fair, bring in new thinking learn from others.
“So quiet a lot is actually on play at this year’s fair. What we are trying to encourage now are business synergies that are sustainable, so we are not looking at the trade fair as just a fun fair, but we are looking at it as an event that will actually teach business and also encourage exchange of ideas for sustainability,” Ms Kabwela said.
And Mr Chotoshi said 497 had confirmed participation at this year’s trade fair, of which 425 were local and 74 international.
He said preparations were on course with exhibitors working on their stands
Participating countries include Spain, Egypt, Uganda, Indonesia, Tanzania and Ghana among others.
