Zccm-ih Declares K183 Million Payout
ZCCM Investment Holdings (ZCCM-IH) has declared a K183 million dividend for the 2025 financial year, rewarding shareholders from returns earned through its investments.
Speaking during the symbolic dividend cheque presentation ceremony, ZCCM-IH board chairperson Phesto Musonda said the company had remained resilient despite economic challenges, including copper price volatility, severe drought, epidemics and national debt restructuring.
“These cheques are not paid from borrowing or from selling assets; they are paid from cash our investments earn. That is exactly what this company is for,” he said.Mr Musonda said ZCCM-IH had retained about K2.4 billion in dividends paid to shareholders since 2015.
Minister of Finance and National Planning Situmbeko Musokotwane commended ZCCM-IH for its financial performance, saying its returns demonstrated the potential of state-owned enterprises to generate sustainable financial returns despite historical challenges.
Dr Musokotwane said government shareholding in commercial enterprises represented an investment made on behalf of the Zambian people.
“The payment of dividends is not merely a financial transaction; it demonstrates that public investments can generate tangible benefits for citizens,” he said in a speech read on his behalf by Permanent Secretary for Economic Management and Investment Mulele Mulele.
IDC chief executive officer Cornwell Muleya, represented by chief finance officer Raphael Chipoma, also praised ZCCM-IH for its consistent dividend payments.
Mr Muleya said the returns would be reinvested in strategic national projects to promote economic growth, job creation and rural development.
NAPSA chief executive officer Muyangwa Muyangwa described the returns as a strong vote of confidence in Zambia's capital markets.
