ZAMMSA Truck Overturns in Luano, Medical Supplies Safely Delivered

Luano District – April 14, 2025: A Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) truck carrying vital medical supplies overturned on Monday afternoon along the Masansa-Mboroma road near Zambia Corner in Luano District.

The truck, registration number 729 DC, was transporting antiretroviral (ARV) drugs, essential medicines, and testing kits to several health facilities in Luano Valley, including Mboroma, Mulembo, Chingombe Mission, Tumbwe, and Mboshya.

According to ZAMMSA Transport and Distribution Manager Felix Cheele, the vehicle overturned after veering off the road while negotiating a sharp bend. The driver sustained injuries and was taken to Mkushi District Hospital for treatment. No fatalities were reported.

Although some windows of the truck were damaged in the accident, the medical supplies were largely unharmed. Luano District Commissioner Kells Meleki confirmed that a swift response enabled the transfer of the medicines to another vehicle, which successfully completed the delivery to the targeted health centers without further

delay.
