Yo-Maps Awards Scholarships to Medical Students
Zambian singer Elton Mulenga, popularly known as Yo-Maps, on Wednesday awarded 10 full scholarships to 10 medical students at Lusaka based Royal Medical University.
The scholarships are part of his education initiative, the Yo-Maps 100% Bursary, under which he plans to sponsor up to 20 students this year.
Speaking on the initiative, Yo-Maps said the programme is aimed at supporting young people and investing in the future of the country.
“When I was growing up, life was never smooth. But I made a promise to myself that when God blesses me, even from the little I make, I would always reach back and help others,” he said.
“On 31 December 2025, I decided to stretch out my hand and give back to the community by sponsoring 10 medical students at Royal Medical University under the Yo-Maps 100% Bursary. This is more than support it is an investment in dreams, in service, and in the future of our nation.”
He said that as Olios, the team is believing God to support 20 students this year under the bursary programme.
“Our prayer is that God helps us reach our goals and targets so that we can double the number of beneficiaries and continue changing lives, one opportunity at a time. We would also like to appreciate Royal Medical University for accepting our request and welcoming us,” he said.
Yo-Maps added that he hopes the university will honour its commitment to share the sponsored students’ academic results each semester to enable the team to track their performance.
He further appealed to members of the public to support education where possible.
“There are thousands of young people out there with dreams but no access to school. If you have the capacity to help even one or two to get an education, please do so. When we lift each other up, we are not just changing lives we are contributing to the growth and future of this great nation, Zambia đŸ‡¿đŸ‡²,” he said.
