TWO MEN ARRESTED FOR STEALING HIV AND SYPHILIS TEST KITS IN LUKULU.
Police in Lukulu District have arrested two men for allegedly breaking into Lishua Health Facility and stealing HIV and syphilis testing kits valued at K800. The suspects, identified as Kayombo Kaumba and Robinson Shamanga, both aged 23 of Lishua area, were apprehended by officers from Lukulu Police Station.
The incident occurred between 01:00 and 02:00 hours on February 22, 2026, when three suspected criminals allegedly forced open a door to the health facility and stole a Determine HIV test kit valued at K300, a syphilis test kit valued at K250, and a package of syringes worth K250. The matter was reported by Mr. Monde Lubasi, 32, who was on duty at the time.
Earlier, a man had brought his pregnant wife to the facility for delivery, and shortly after the safe birth, suspicious noises were heard from the mothers’ shelter. A laptop bag left at the scene contained a National Registration Card bearing the name Robinson Shamanga and some of the stolen medical supplies, leading to the arrest of the two suspects. A docket has been opened and investigations are ongoing.
