STOLEN NEWBORN FOUND ABANDONED IN KAFUE.

A newborn who was stolen from the Neonatal Ward at Kafue General Hospital has been found abandoned and reunited with his mother. The infant was discovered in the early hours of February 24, 2026, in Shikoswe Township.

According to the Zambia Police Service Deputy Public Relations Officer Chipo Kaitisha, the child was found by Phides Phiri around 05:00 hours after she heard a baby crying from an area covered with short grass while walking to work. She alerted a passerby and later reported the matter to Shikoswe Police Post.

Police officers responded quickly, took the infant to Kafue General Hospital for medical attention, where he was later reunited with his mother. Police have commended Ms. Phiri for her alertness and swift action, which led to the safe recovery of the child.
