RUMP TO LAUNCH US$1BN ‘BOARD OF PEACE’ IN DAVOS.
US President Donald Trump is set to formally announce the first charter of the so-called “Board of Peace,” a new body aimed at resolving international conflicts, with a permanent membership fee of US$1 billion. The announcement is expected during a signing ceremony in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday.
The board was initially conceived to oversee the rebuilding of Gaza, but a draft of the charter indicates that its mandate is not limited to the Palestinian territory. About 35 world leaders have so far committed to joining the board, out of approximately 50 invitations that were issued.
Countries confirmed to participate include Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar and Egypt. NATO members Turkiye and Hungary are also listed, alongside Morocco, Pakistan, Indonesia, Kosovo, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Paraguay and Vietnam.
