Police to Hold Open Day in Southern Province
The 2026 Police Open Day Organizing Committee has confirmed that this year’s national event will be held at Mazabuka Secondary School grounds in Southern Province on 4th March 2026.
Led by Mr. Joseph Shanampota, Commissioner of Police in charge of the Community Services Directorate (CSD), the committee paid a courtesy visit to the Southern Province administration to brief officials on the event’s goal of promoting community policing and public safety.
At her office in Choma, Provincial Deputy Permanent Secretary Mrs. Yolanta Mutyambe Malunga welcomed the announcement, noting that the event will allow residents to engage with police on issues such as stock theft. “It is gratifying that the Police National Event will take place in Southern Province, giving local people a chance to interact and ask questions on stock theft and other police-related matters,” she said.
The committee also met with Southern Province Commanding Officer Mr. Moono Fwaula Namalongo, who pledged full support to ensure the event is conducted successfully.
Mr. Shanampota highlighted that the Police Open Day is a key platform for police officers, community members, and stakeholders to engage, foster understanding, and strengthen collaboration.
The committee inspected Mazabuka Secondary School, the event venue, where the chairperson expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness.
The Open Day will include exhibitions, interactive sessions, and entertainment, under the theme: “Peaceful Elections: Our Shared Responsibility.”
