NORTH KOREAN SUSPECT IN CONNECTION WITH KIM JONG-NAM DEATH RELEASED

The North Korean suspect who was questioned in connection with the death of Kim Jong-nam explained that he was only the victim of a conspiracy organised by the Malaysian authorities in order to implicate him.
Ri Jong Chol stated that his detention was a "plot" to "damage the dignity and integrity of the republic", according to Reuters news agency reports.
He gave his statement outside the North Korea embassy in Beijing shortly after he was deported from Malaysia on Friday.
Ri Jong Chol was released from police custody due to lack of sufficient evidence.
Speaking to journalists early on Saturday, he accused Malaysian investigators of using coercion in an attempt to extract a confession.
