Mwewa says street vendor relocation will continue

Mr. Mwewa said protests against the relocation exercise would not be entertained, adding that vendors must move into designated markets to allow the Lusaka City Council to collect levies systematically.

“The exercise to relocate street vendors continues. Whether they like it or not, they must move into the markets to allow the Council to collect levies systematically. AMALO EMOYALI inside the markets,” Mr. Mwewa said.

He said trading spaces were available inside the markets and urged vendors to make use of the designated spaces as the relocation exercise continues.

The Mayor-elect said the exercise was aimed at improving the organisation of trading activities in Lusaka and ensuring that vendors operate from designated trading spaces.

He added that efforts to relocate street vendors would continue as part of measures to promote a cleaner and more orderly city.
