MUGABE’S SON ARRESTED IN JOHANNESBURG OVER ALLEGED SHOOTING OF GARDENER

Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, the youngest son of Zimbabwe’s late former president Robert Mugabe, has been arrested after a 23 year old gardener was shot at a house in Hyde Park on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at a residence in the upmarket Johannesburg suburb. The injured man was taken to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said officers recovered spent cartridges at the scene, but the firearm used in the shooting has not been found.

“The motive of the shooting is unknown at this stage, and police investigations are underway,” she said.

Another man was arrested at the property. The two are expected to appear before the Alexandra Magistrates Court.

Bellarmine, 28, is the youngest child of Robert and Grace Mugabe. His father ruled Zimbabwe for 37 years before stepping down in 2017. He died in 2019.
