Slug: Construction of 23 solar milling plants nears completion.
Construction of 23 presidential solar hummer mills in Kasempa district is progressing well and is expected to be completed soon.
All the 23 presidential solar milling plants that were constructed and installed in kasempa district last year are working well.
Speaking in interview, Kasempa district cooperative inspector Moses Lwaisha confirmed the development recently.
Mr. Lwaisha disclosed that the contractor handed over the solar milling plants to Zambia Cooperative Federation (ZCF) last year.
He further disclosed that 22 primary cooperatives have benefited from solar milling plants and the remaining one has gone to the mother board of cooperatives in the district called Cooperative union (DCU).
Mr. Lwaisha has since called on the beneficiary of the presidential solar milling plants to put the facility to good use and ensure that they grow their business.
Mr. Lwaisha has also advised the cooperative movement to embrace transparence, be innovative and come out of the dependence syndrome.
Meanwhile Kasempa DCU chairperson Ozweel Mweempe has thanked his royal highness senior chief Kasempa for allocating land to the cooperative movement for the purpose of constructing the 23 milling plants across the district.
Mr. Mweempe has since called upon all the responsible officers to ensure that documentation for the said land is in place.
And north western province permanent secretary Ephraim Mateyo said the milling plant will alleviate poverty among small scale farmers and indeed improve the livelihood of the people in the kasempa district.
Mr. Mateyo noted that the presidential Solar milling plants will facilitate the reduction of the escalating mille meal prices in the country.
