Medical Expert Warns Against Excessive Use of Contraceptives.

A medical expert has cautioned women against the excessive use of contraceptive pills, warning of potential health risks and long-term fertility complications.

Dr. David Kadisha, an Obstetrician-Gynecologist at Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital, said while contraceptives are an essential tool for family planning, their use should be guided by professional advice.

Dr. Kadisha stated that prolonged and unmonitored use of contraceptive pills can lead to reduced fertility levels in some women, depending on how long they have been used.

He advised the public, particularly women of reproductive age, to seek medical guidance before starting or continuing any form of contraception to avoid adverse effects.

"Contraceptives, like any other medication, come with side effects. These can be both short-term and long-term, and may affect a woman’s ability to conceive in the future if not properly managed," Dr. Kadisha said.

He emphasized the importance of regular consultations with healthcare providers to ensure safe and effective family planning practices.
