Medical Examinations for ZNS Voluntary Training Progressing Smoothly

‎Medical examinations for the 1,092 youths selected to undergo the Zambia National Service (ZNS) Voluntary National Service Training are underway and progressing smoothly.

‎The exercise is taking place at ZNS Kitwe Training School, ZNS Chishimba Camp in Kasama, and ZNS Chiwoko Camp in Katete, where medical personnel are screening the recruits ahead of the official start of training on 1st September 2025. The medical checks are meant to assess the fitness of the participants, who will undergo six months of mandatory military training.

‎Among the recruits are 468 females and 624 males, drawn from across the country, with seven selected per constituency. In addition to medical assessments, the process also includes verification of academic credentials to ensure that only eligible youths proceed to training.

‎In Kitwe, the examinations are being overseen by ZNS Kitwe Training School Commandant Colonel Mwila Mulubwa, alongside Colonel Bright Sichone from the ZNS Medical Branch in Lusaka.

‎The Voluntary National Service Training was revived following President Hakainde Hichilema’s directive in November 2024. Since then, K17.1 million has been disbursed by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to support the programme.
