Lusaka Central Community Receives New Lubwa Police Station

Lusaka’s Lubwa community has marked a major milestone in strengthening local safety and security following the official handover of the Lubwa Community Police Station today  Saturday morning.

The handover ceremony, held in Lusaka District within Lusaka Central Constituency, was officiated by the Member of Parliament for Lusaka Central and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, SC. The project was implemented by the Lusaka City Council in partnership with the Lusaka Central Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Committee.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Haimbe described the new police station as a practical investment in community safety and a clear demonstration of how CDF resources can directly improve people’s lives. He emphasized that bringing police services closer to residents will help enhance crime prevention, improve response times, and strengthen cooperation between law enforcement officers and the community.

The Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Hon. Jack Mwiimbu, SC, also addressed the gathering, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving security infrastructure across the country. He noted that community police posts play a critical role in promoting public trust, early crime reporting, and shared responsibility in maintaining law and order.

Local leaders and residents welcomed the development, saying the police station will reduce the distance people previously had to travel to access police services and will contribute to a safer environment for businesses, families, and young people.

The Lubwa Community Police Station is expected to serve as a hub for community policing activities, reinforcing collaboration between officers and residents while supporting the broader goal of building secure and well-serviced neighborhoods in Lusaka Central Constituency.
