Missing Nursing Student Found Dead in Chipata
The deceased, identified as Luckson Tembo, was a second-year registered nursing student at Mwami Nursing School.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba said Tembo, who was suffering from epilepsy, was found by cattle herders within the Mwami Adventist Hospital area yesterday.
Mr Mweemba said police visited the scene after receiving a report and found the body in a decomposed state.
He said Tembo was identified by his friends through his clothes and mobile phone.
Mr Mweemba said after Tembo went missing, the school management and fellow students conducted searches within the school and surrounding areas but were unsuccessful.
He said the body was later handed over to the family for burial.
Mr Mweemba said the grave has been marked to allow for possible exhumation should a post-mortem examination be required.
