Kitwe City Council Shuts Down Praise Xin Casino Over Health and Safety Violations
The Kitwe City Council has closed Praise Xin Casino, Restaurant, and Guesthouse after inspectors uncovered serious health and safety breaches that posed a threat to public welfare.
According to council officials, the establishment was found discharging raw sewage, operating without mandatory compliance documents, and failing to maintain basic sanitation standards. Inspectors also identified hazardous electrical faults, prompting the Council to order an immediate shutdown.
In a statement, Kitwe City Council Public Relations Manager Mwaka Nakweti reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to safeguarding residents. “Our mission is to improve the quality of life of the people of Kitwe through the development of sustainable economic policies and provision of services,” she said.
The action follows a series of enforcement measures taken this year, including the demolition of structures illegally built on sewer lines one of the Council’s efforts to preserve public infrastructure and ensure compliance with city regulations.
The Council is urging the public to report businesses operating unsafely or without proper authorization, emphasizing that community vigilance is crucial in promoting a cleaner, safer city.
