Infinitely long queues in Banks/at ATMs
by Ricky Mwakwa
There have been infinitely long queues in banks and at ATMs in Kafue. Most residents, if not everyone, has had the experience of queuing up at banks or ATMs here in Kafue for a long time now and people have been complaining bitterly about it, a resident of C5 Estates in Kafue expressed herself yesterday, Wednesday 10th September 2014.
“Most of the time when I come here to withdraw or deposit money it’s either the ATM is out of order with a NOTICE saying ‘..Please try using another ATM..’ which is about 5 plus minutes drive from this one here.. Or there is a terribly long queue inside the bank...” the resident complained.
The same resident went on to say that “it is even worse when it comes to needing the bank’s services from the inside where the real heartache really is.” She continued and elaborated further that “even the personnel’s manner of working is sluggish and excruciatingly slow-paced. It really pains me to see people working in that way when they have all the customers in front of them needing their attention. I feel very bad especially during those specific circumstances when I happen to be running late. This happens almost every time I come here at Zanaco Bank.”
This specific victim of ‘Bank services’ specifically had her issues mostly with the Zanaco Bank. And telling from the way she expressed herself, she really seemed embittered over the her predicament. She said this yesterday morning outside the Zanaco Bank premises in Estates, Kafue.
Something needs to be done about this situation urgently and surely how can one wait hours in queue for some service which they might not even be attended to? The people or management concerned must do something to eradicate such intolerable situations ASAP before some of us start handling our own moneys without the help of certain Banks, the Lady, looking observably aggravated said as she walked away in a quick stomp.
Speaking in an open space, one could tell that this resident was really not being terribly humorous when she said something needs to be done about this unfortunate situation. Is it just the locals or the black community only that queues up in banks and other places? Because it isn’t a common scene seeing a white person queuing up like most of us do. Not even the Indian community stay in queues these days either. The only people we see are the Chinese who one can find in most queues at most banks.
“Why doesn’t our government do more on the e-banking system and educate the masses about its use so that some problems such as queuing up in Banks or at ATMs is reduced or curbed out for good?” the Kafue resident concluded as she floundered off to her car.
