Indian Prime Minister Modi invites President Lungu to visit India
PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has been invited by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi to attend the 3rd India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS-III). The summit is scheduled to take place in New Delhi from 26th to 29th October, 2015.

This is according to a press statement issued by the Indian High Commission to Zambia.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi attaches great importance to the IAFS as a means to further strengthen and deepen the historical relationship between India and the African continent in general, and with Zambia in particular,” reads the statement in part.

The invitation was personally delivered to President Edgar Lungu by Mr. Siddeshwara, Special Envoy of the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on 11th July, 2015.

The IAFS is a biannual summit meeting, held alternately in India and Africa. The African Union Commission coordinates the India-Africa summit meetings. The first summit was held in 2008 in New Delhi and the second was held in Addis Ababa in 2011.

The Third IAFS is set to be the largest gathering of foreign leaders in India since the Non Aligned Summit in New Delhi in 1983 and the Commonwealth Summit the same year.
