GOVERNMENT NOT IN A DEBT CRISIS

MINISTER of Finance Maggret Mwanakatwe says Zambia is not in a debt crisis as but that Government is in full control of its debt and is addressing vulnerabilities of its debt profile through taking several measures that include the reduction of non-concessional financing and renegotiating of some loans on its portfolio.
Mrs. Mwanakatwe also said that this is achieved by continued measures taken by government that will form a basis for facilitating discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the possibility of an IMF supported Programme.
Mrs. Mwanakatwe said that engagement between Government and the IMF has continued through staff visits, with one upcoming in the 1st week of November2018. She also said that no Public Funds, whether donour or Government, will be allowed to be misused.
