FRENCH AMBASSADOR PUSHES FOR STRONGER ENERGY PARTNERSHIP WITH ZAMBIA.

The Thomas Rossignol has reaffirmed France’s commitment to strengthening energy cooperation with Zambia following high-level discussions at the Ministry of Energy.

Ambassador Rossignol led a delegation of French energy experts in talks with Permanent Secretary–Energy, Prof Ephrahim Munshifwa, aimed at enhancing bilateral collaboration in the petroleum and electricity sub-sectors. He said the French Government has given him a clear mandate to deepen relations with Zambia, particularly in the energy sector where the country holds significant investment potential.

The Ambassador stressed the importance of diversifying energy investments and scaling up power production to meet growing demand. He noted that both countries must identify priority areas that will deliver mutual benefits while supporting Zambia’s development agenda. The French delegation expressed interest in strengthening cooperation through technical partnerships, innovative financing models, and increased private sector participation.

Welcoming the delegation, Prof Munshifwa reaffirmed Government’s commitment to promoting private investment and implementing reforms aimed at creating a transparent and competitive energy market. He said Zambia values its partnership with France and looks forward to translating discussions into tangible investments that will enhance long-term energy security and economic growth.
