FRA ASSURES FARMERS AWAITING PAYMENTS THAT FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE.
The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has assured farmers who supplied maize during the 2025 crop marketing season and are yet to be paid that all funds have already been disbursed to participating banks across the country. FRA Executive Director Justin Chuunka says the agency has submitted all farmer details, including corresponding amounts due, to the paying banks in respective districts to facilitate completion of the payment process.
To speed up payments, the agency has introduced additional payment options alongside over-the-counter bank payments. These include mobile money platforms and direct bank transfers. Farmers opting for mobile money payments have been advised to visit FRA offices in their areas to complete the required documentation, as the agency encourages the use of digital payment systems to ensure faster and more efficient disbursements.
The FRA acknowledges the importance of timely payments to farmers’ operations and has expressed regret over the delays experienced. Mr Chuunka says the agency is continuing to engage banks to ensure that all outstanding payments are concluded as quickly as possible.
