FORMER GANG LEADER FOUND GUILTY OF TUPAC'S MURDER

Former gang leader Duane “Keffe D” Davis has been found guilty of murdering rap icon Tupac Shakur, nearly 30 years after the rapper was killed in Las Vegas.

A jury reached the verdict after about three hours of deliberations, finding the 63-year-old Davis guilty of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon. Tupac was shot four times on September 7, 1996, while travelling in a BMW with music producer Suge Knight, and died six days later at the age of 25. Prosecutors argued that Davis ordered the shooting following a fight involving his nephew, Orlando Anderson, while his defence denied that he orchestrated the killing.

Davis was arrested in September 2023 after statements he made and a 2019 memoir linked him to the shooting, although his lawyers argued the account was fictional. Davis told the court he intended to appeal, with sentencing set for October 13. Tupac’s stepbrother, Mopreme Shakur, said the family’s long search for justice could never bring his brother back. “The justice I would like,i will never get. I want my little brother back,” said Mopreme Shakur.
