Eighty six percent of farmers pay for FISP contribution
Kasempa, December,16- more than Twelve thousand out of the targeted fourteen thousand farmers in kasempa district have deposited their contributions toward the Farmer input support programme for the 2018/2019 farming season representing 86 percent achievement

Speaking during the district development coordinating committee meeting held today, district Agricultural Coordinator Joseph Masuwa said out of the 12 thousand, more than seven thousand have fully redeemed their farming inputs under the (FISP) through the E-voucher system.

Mr masuwa noted that government has already deposited K10,623 while the remaining amount is expected to be deposited by the 14th of December, 2018.

He also noted that under the e-voucher system farmers in the district have a choice to choose from catalogue from the 51 active agro dealers.

And in another development, the Food Reserve Agency has paid K750,, 000 to farmers while K5,699,380 has not yet been paid.

Mr masuwa said the agency managed to purchase 91,705 by 50 kilogram bags of maize for the 2017/2018 marketing season.

Mr masuwa further appealed to the department fund the department in order to meet the targeted activities.
