ECZ CLARIFIES BALLOT PAPER MARKING

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has clarified that a ballot paper is not automatically invalid when marked with a symbol other than a cross, provided the voter’s intention is clear.

Voters are instructed to use a cross, but other marks can be accepted if they clearly indicate the preferred candidate and do not identify the voter.

ECZ has urged stakeholders to provide accurate information and avoid confusing voters ahead of the August 13 General Election.
