Deputy Head Teacher Found Dead at Home.

Southern Province Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo said Choma Central Police received a report on September 19, 2026, around 10:45 hours from Harmony Primary School Parents and Teachers Association chairperson Fred Munkobwe.

Mr Namalongo said the incident is reported to have occurred between September 18 at around 15:00 hours and September 19 at around 09:00 hours.

“The deceased was on duty at the said school and was reportedly in good health. At around 14:00 hours, he complained of what was described as painful gases and requested permission from the Head Teacher to go home and rest and he left the school at around 15:00 hours,” Mr Namalongo said.

He said on September 19, staff members went to check on Mr Mushakabantu after finding the doors to his house locked.

“They peeped through his bedroom window and discovered that he was unresponsive inside the house and the matter was then reported to the police,” he said.

Mr Namalongo said police officers rushed to the scene, forced the door open and found Mr Mushakabantu inside the house.

He said a physical inspection of the body revealed no visible injuries and that there was currently no suspicion of foul play.

Mr Namalongo said the body has since been deposited at Choma General Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.
