Chiefs In Ghana to Punish All Who Fail To Sleep In Mosquito Nets

Chiefs in the East Region of Ghana say they are bent to punish any community member who fails to use the Long Lasting Insectcide Treated Nets ( LLINs) provided them by authorities known in local parlance as 'mosquito nets'.
During an orientation program for traditional and religious leaders in the Upper East Region, the chiefs, coming from the Bonga Bongo, Kassena Nankana Municipal and Kasenna Nanka West, Nabdam and Talensi districts say they would make warning stand by instituting thje necessary by lawa.
In 2012, UNICEF with the support from DFID and through the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in an extensive distribution of LLINS but research done later indicated that most houses in the region where the LLINS were distributed were not using them for the intended purpose but rather using them to cover their hencoops and kraals.
