CHAINDA YOUTH BUILDS FLYING DRONES FROM WASTE

In Chainda compound, where many see only piles of discarded plastic bottles, maize stalks and broken electrical wires, One Young innovator See's possibility.Onijah Masina Zani  has turned waste materials into fully functional flying drones, an achievement that is drawing attention to both his creativity and his message of sustainability.

Zani,an educational phycologist by profession, says his facination with aircrafts began in Growing up in what he he described as "a base", he was constantly surrounded by scrap materials and improvised living conditions.Rather than seeing limitations, he saw inspiration.

"Living in a base as a child is what inspired me to start making drones",Zani said in an interview. "We didn't have much but I was always curious.I would look at the discarded items around me and ask myself what they could become ".

What began as a childhood curiosity evolved into hands-on experimentation.Using left over Pvc ceiling boards to construct light weight frames and salvaged wires from broken appliances for electrical connections, Zani gradually developed droned capable of flight.

The journey, however, was not without setbacks.

"At first they couldn't lift off properly", he said."They would shake and collapse mid air.But I kept adjusting the balance, improving the wiring and strengthening the structure. Eventually, they started Flying ."

Through persistence and trail and error Zani refined his designs into stable machines capable of sustained flight. His dedication recently earned him a drone license, formally recognizing him as a certified operator.

"Getting my drone license was proof that my dreams are real", he said ."It showed that something that started with scrap material in a base could grow into something officially recognized".

Beyond innovation, Zani  hopes his work sends broader messages about environmental responsibility and youth empowerment.By repurposing materials that would otherwise go to waste , he demonstrates how creativity and determination can transform overlooked resources into valuable tools.

As his drones continue to raise above Chainda's skyline, Zani's story stands as a reminder that innovation can take flight, even from the humblest beginnings.
