Besieged Charlie Hebdo suspects choose martyrdom

Two suspected heavily armed gunmen who allegedly shot twelve people at a Paris Satirical Magazine,Charlie Hebdo, have told police they will die inside a besieged Dammartin-en-Goele printing company as martyrs.
International media report that earlier police conducted a car chase after the suspects stole food and petrol from petrol station, hijacked a car and shot and injured two people.
International media say there was gun fire also when the gunmen entered the CDT Printing and Advertising Company where they have held an unidentified individual hostage.
Reports say police contacted the suspects but the brothers refused to come out; opting to die inside the printing company premises as martyrs.
French president Francois Hollande told a press conference in Paris today that internal and domestic threats were not new, saying his government had known that anything could happen any time.
At the press conference that was carried live by various international television stations, he said his country had been a victim of terrorism in the last decade and revealed that in the past few months attempted operations had been foiled.
“Our country has been a victim over the past decade …there were attempts to carry out operations and we knew that anything can happen any time,” he disclosed.
He said all means should be used where there were risks and said stronger intervention was to prevent recurrence of similar terrorist attacks.
“So we wanted that a stronger intervention should be to avoid and prevent a repetition of what has happened,” he said.
The president said the security forces should do everything to guarantee the protection of French citizens.
“All citizens are invited to take part in these manifestations and demonstrations. There is no control. We have to guarantee them free access and protection. This is our responsibility,” he said.
The president hailed strong international solidarity and observed that when terrorists attack France other friendly countries realize that it can happen on their territories too.
“We have witnessed strong international solidarity especially European countries. Also we rehearsed with other countries regarding intelligence information. This is important,” he observed.
