15 People Nabbed In Lusaka For Illegal Repackaging Of Water And Brews

Fifteen people have been arrested in Lusaka for illegally repackaging water and traditional brews, commonly known as Munkoyo and Chibwantu.
Lusaka City Council (LCC) Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba, confirmed the arrests, saying the suspects were intercepted along Tokyo Way where they were found carrying out unauthorized recycling activities.
<“We intercepted the group while they were involved in illegal repackaging of water and traditional brews. Such activities are not only unlawful but also a danger to public health,” Ms. Mwamba said.
She further warned the public to desist from engaging in similar acts.
> “We are urging residents to avoid operating in undesignated and unauthorized areas. The Council will not hesitate to take action against offenders,” she added.
Ms. Mwamba stated that the suspects remain in custody and will appear before the Lusaka Fast-Track Court soon.
Meanwhile, the Council has demolished eight illegal makeshift structures that were erected along Tokyo Way without planning approval.
