New Oxygen Plant Commissioned at Kasama General Hospital

The people of Northern Province have welcomed a major boost to the region’s healthcare system following the commissioning of a state-of-the-art oxygen production plant at Kasama General Hospital.

‎The new facility, officially opened by Minister of Health Dr. Elijah Muchima, is expected to provide a steady and reliable supply of medical oxygen, significantly easing the pressure on health institutions that have long struggled with shortages.

‎Dr. Muchima said the commissioning of the oxygen plant marks a critical step toward improving healthcare delivery in the province. He noted that the plant will reduce the costs and challenges associated with transporting oxygen cylinders from distant locations, allowing for faster and more efficient emergency response.

‎“This facility is not just a structure; it is a lifeline that will save countless lives. We are committed to ensuring that no health facility in Northern Province runs out of oxygen when it is most needed,” Dr. Muchima said.
