LCC SEIZES ASSORTED ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES FROM ILLEGAL TRADERS AT CEMETERIES IN LUSAKA.

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has successfully seized assorted alcoholic beverages from illegal traders operating at four cemeteries in Lusaka, including Chunga, Chingwere, Old Leopards Hill, and New Leopards Hill.

LCC Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba, says the joint operation, conducted in collaboration with the State Police on March 28, 2025, resulted in the confiscation of assorted alcoholic beverages and the demolition of 12 illegal makeshift stands at Chunga and Chingwere cemeteries.

Ms. Mwamba notes that unfortunately, no arrests were made during the operation as the illegal traders fled the scene to evade capture.

She emphasizes that the Council's ongoing operation to maintain order and bring sanity to public spaces, including cemeteries, is a continuous exercise aimed at ensuring that all public areas are free from illegal activities.

Ms. Mwamba advises all traders in the city to refrain from conducting trade in undesignated places, such as cemeteries, stressing the Council's commitment to maintaining dignity and respect in all public areas.
