Zambian Entertainment Industry Faces Backlash Over Mwine Mushi's Death

Youth advocate Tiza Mukuka has accused the Zambian entertainment industry of hypocrisy following the death of renowned actor Robam Mwape, popularly known as Mwine Mushi, who passed away recently in Solwezi.

‎According to Mukuka, Mwape's death is a stark reminder of the industry's neglect and lack of solidarity towards its own. "All of you in the Zambian entertainment industry should be ashamed of yourselves, actors, actresses, and musicians. You are hypocrites," Mukuka charged. He lamented that despite Mwape's fame, he died in poverty due to the industry's neglect.

‎Mukuka questioned the industry's sudden outpouring of tributes and condolences, describing them as "empty tributes and fake tears." "You abandoned him in a place like Solwezi instead of coming together to support him, maybe even helping him secure a house in Lusaka. Now you want to act like you cared? Stop lying to the people," he said.

‎The controversy surrounding Mwape's death has also shed light on the alleged toxic culture within the entertainment fraternity. Mukuka suggested that this may be the reason why award winning artist Yo Maps often distances himself from other local entertainers. "Yo Maps knows the industry is rotten that's why he's better off alone. And you all know it too," Mukuka concluded.
